Boyd R. Bogdan, age 78, of Plattsburg, Mo., died suddenly Sunday afternoon, December 23, 2018, at Mosaic Life Care in Saint Joseph, Mo.
He was born January 5, 1940, in Evanston, Ill., at St. Francis Hospital to parents Daniel and Barbara (Schweder) Bogdan. He spent his early childhood in Chicago, followed by family moves to Gary, Ind., where he attended Holy Angels Grad School; then, Naperville, Ill., where he attended SS Peter and Paul Grade School and graduated from Naperville Central High in 1958. Boyd enlisted in the U.S. Army in October 1958, attached to the Army Security Agency and was stationed at Clark Air Force Base in Philippines and Bangkok, Thailand, honorably completing his service in September, 1961. After the service, he lived in N. Aurora, Ill., before finally settling down in Aurora in 1969. He became interested in what became a lifelong career in the real estate industry, while also selling insurance for many of those same years.
In 1993, he met his wife to be, Pamela (Welton), while managing the Coldwell Banker Real Estate Group in Yorkville, Ill. On April 4, 1994, they were united in marriage in Geneva, Ill. In 1996, the couple moved to Colorado Springs, Colo., where they continued in the ownership and operation of Bogdan Real Estate. In 2006, they once again moved home and business, settling in Trimble, Mo. Boyd attended Kearney Bible Church and Emmanuel Bible Church and greatly enjoyed fellowship with the church families, when he was able to attend.
In addition to his wife, Pamela of Plattsburg, Mo., he is survived by two sons, Jeffrey (Lenee’) Bogdan of Yorkville, Ill., and Scott (Kathy) Bogdan of Naples, Fla.; two stepsons, Paul and Geoffrey Caquelin, both of Trimble, Mo.; six grandchildren, Nicholas and Matthew Bogdan of Yorkville, Ill., Rachel (Mitch) Knight of Oklahoma, Jared (Jessica) Bogdan of Naples, Fla., and Jenna (Corey) Scott of Lathrop, Mo.; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Syl (Paul) Kroushl of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Donna Johnson of Aurora, Ill., and Bonnie (John) Olsen of Yorkville, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
He now joins his parents, who preceded him in death.
His memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Bible Church. Pastor Rich Foster and Pastor Charles Johnson will officiate.
