Surrounded by family, Myron Lee Smith, 82, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2019.
Myron Lee Smith was born April 4, 1936 in Cameron, Mo. Myron joined the United States Army, his company was known as “Blue and White Devils” 30th infantry , 3rd division, and was honorably discharged as a veteran with rank of E5.
He is preceded in death by wife of 26 years, Carole Sue Smith; his parents, John R. Smith and Iona Fern “Onie” Smith; brother, Billy Don Smith; daughter, Sondra Rae Smith; step-daughter, Sondra Jo Duncomb; sister-in-law, Joyce Elaine Confer; brothers-in-law, Clarence Lee Jones and Lavond Hanks;grandson, William Gordon Smith; and great granddaughters, August Rose Warner and Phoenix Rose Warner.
Myron is survived by his sisters, Betty Sue Jones and Bonnie Kay Hanks; his son, Michael Allen Smith; daughter, Johnie Ranee Chambers and husband, Aaron; step-daughters, Tammy Sue Folkes and Susan McGaugh and husband, James; grandchildren, Megan Elliot (Justin), Morgan Warner (Brett), Dakota McGaugh, Cameron Chambers, Allison Chambers, McKennon Elliott, Lane Elliott, Axel Warner, Melissa Gimlin, Aaron Gimlin, John Gimlin, Austin Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
Some of Myron’s favorite things were spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed his Tractor Club, tractor shows, tractor pulls, rebuilding antique tractors, motors, and trailers. He also loved spending time taking things apart so that he could request others to help him put them back together. He also loved to fly fish.
A visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., on Friday, February 8, 2019 at Bross and Spidle Funeral Home, 217 W. Broadway, Excelsior Springs, MO 64024. Service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place following service at Hillcrest Cemetery, Clay County, Excelsior Springs, Mo.
