Norma Sue Holt went to rest in her heavenly home Monday, February 25, 2019 at Liberty Hospital after numerous illnesses. Born October 9, 1936, Sue was a lifelong resident of Kearney and an active member of the 1st Baptist church for over 70 years. After retiring from a successful career at International Harvester, Sue returned to her home place in order to care for her beloved parents, Ruth and Wesley. She wasn’t done with work yet. Even after retirement, Sue worked at several local businesses, including Joann’s flowers, Nick & Roger’s Antiques and Nick’s Drug Store.
That wasn’t enough for Sue Holt, though, she also was a passionate volunteer for many wonderful causes, including Meals on Wheels, the Starlight Foundation & Adventures in Learning. She was also a member of the American Business Women’s Association & the Rebecca Association & the Democratic Women’s Association.
“Aunt Sue”, as she was known to many, will be remembered for her great sense of humor and laser sharp wit. Those who were privileged to know her will feel her loss greatly.
Survivors include her brother, Mickey Holt of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; nieces and nephews, Barbara Jo Becker of Gladstone, Mo., Susan and Bob Shields of North Carolina, David and Lisa Holt of North Carolina, Steven and Marletta Holt of Texas, Rodney and Dana Holt of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Michael Holt of Excelsior Springs, Mo., and Deanna and David Holt of Liberty, Mo.; great nieces and nephews, Stacey and Scot, Curtis and Jessica, Katelyn and TJ, Sara and Brent, and Jaron, Connor, and Davis.; and great great nieces and nephews, Porter, Carmen, Tucker, Annie Grace, Bennett Nathaniel, Lex, Emmett, and Molly Kay.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Charles and David.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. and funeral from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2019 at Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Kearney, Mo.
