Shirley Doris Mallory, 79, of Excelsior Springs, MO, passed away Friday, May 10, 2019 at her home surrounded by loved ones.
She leaves as her legacy one daughter and son-in-law, Debra and James Paul Gorham and one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Judy Mallory. She also leaves to cherish her memory five grandchildren, Jessica and Daniel Gorham and Chris, Adam and Stephanie Mallory; five great-grandchildren, Drake and Colton Gorham, Catalina and Noah Mallory, and Thomas Mallory; and one sibling, Earlene St. Clair.
She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn Mallory, and mother and stepfather, Eula and James Avery; husband, Delmer Mallory; sisters, Jackie Adkisson, Neta Anderson, Opal Hines and brother, Russell Mallory.
Shirley held a variety of jobs over her lifetime and was always a hard worker. She was fun, spunky, sassy, stubborn and full of life and energy. Always on the go, she could often be found playing Texas Hold ‘Em, BINGO, and/or the slot machines. She also enjoyed the thrill of finding a good bargain at garage sales and reeling in her next big fish. In addition, Shirley loved visiting with friends and especially enjoyed cooking dinner for her family on holidays.
Shirley was also a member of Union Baptist Church in Orrick, MO.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, MO.
The funeral service will be held Friday, May 17, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, MO. Carol Cable will be officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at Hillcrest Cemetery, Excelsior Springs, MO.
