LaJuana Jean Smelcer, 67, passed away March 15, 2020 at her daughter’s home in Holt, MO. LaJuana was born June 18, 1952 in Augusta, GA. She was the daughter of Howard Banks Braswell and Margie Jean (Wood) Butler.
LaJuana attended high school in Hephzibah, GA, and later went to Maple Woods Community College in Kansas City, MO. She worked for Sprint from 1982-2002, most of that time as an executive secretary. She lived much of her adult life in the Lawson/Excelsior Springs area. She was a member of the Old Union Church east of Lawson.
LaJuana was a committed follower of Jesus and used her many medical challenges as opportunities to witness of her faith to medical personnel who provided care and treatment. She distributed a host of Jesus Calling books to people with whom she shared her faith.
LaJuana is survived by her husband, Terry, of Lawson, MO. She is also survived by a daughter, Shannon Bosley and husband, Mike, of Holt, MO, and son, Tim Smelcer and wife, Meg, of Huron, Ohio; sisters, Maria Hodges, Lincolnton, GA, Angela Appleton (Dan), Daphne, AL, Denise Thompson (Nick), Blythewood, SC, and Patricia Thompson (Randall), Appling, GA; and brother, William H. Pierce, Jr., Blythewood, SC. She has five grandchildren, Ashley Wilson, Dana Elam, Kyrsten Smelcer, Kinsey Smelcer, and Joel Smelcer. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Joseph Mark Pierce.
Private family services. No visitation.
