Tonya Lea Douglas, 47, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away August 4, 2020 at North Kansas City Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Sheila Glenn, and her grandparents, Clifford King, Margaret King, and Wilburn Glenn.
Survivors include her husband, Timothy Douglas, her father, Charles King, and her children, Trevor Douglas and Tara Douglas.
Tonya was born to Sheila Glenn and Charles King at the Excelsior Springs Hospital on April 14, 1973. Tonya was married to Timothy “Tim” Douglas on August 31, 1996, and they have two beautiful children, Trevor and Tara. Raising her children was her greatest joy, and she loved her role as full-time mom. She was very involved with her church family at Excelsior Springs Baptist Church, and dedicated her life to living out the principles of Jesus Christ. She threw her whole self into everything that she loved. She was a Royals and Chiefs super fan. She loved the beach so much she described herself as a mermaid and a pirate. Her skills at crafting were unparalleled, and she took tremendous pride in knowing that her work brought so much joy to everyone else. She surrounded herself with kids because she loved bringing joy into their lives. Her life was full of adventures and challenges; some, she chose, like hiking mountains or parasailing, and others, she fought through, like her heart and brain surgeries. Through it all, her faith never wavered and the love of her family carried her through. To say she has touched many lives is a tremendous understatement. She used her strength to carry others and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
