Everett Morris Green, 94 years old, passed away on November 8, 2020 at his residence at Excelsior Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation with his wife by his side.
Everett was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ann Green, and his siblings, Jack, Billy and Ann.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Maycel Stark; grandchildren, Hannah (Isaac) Callicotte, Katelyn (Mark) Allen, Emily Stark (Trevin Bartee), Ben (Aspen) Stark, and Sharon Stark; great-grandchildren, Levi, Selah and Micah Callicotte, Elias and Mavis Allen; and goddaughter, Laura Corcoran.
Everett Green, known as “Ev”, was born in Sea Cliff, New York on April 22, 1926 and spent most of his life on Long Island. He was employed at Grumman Aircraft Corporation as a technician until retirement. He married Doris Diana Salvioli on June 9, 1951. They lived in Huntington Station, N.Y. and had one daughter, Donna (Green) Stark. They were members of Bethany Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder. They met on a blind date, (Doris says it was not love at first sight!) and were married for 69 years.
Ev loved baseball and his beloved N.Y. Mets until he became a Royals fan. After his move to the K.C. area in late 2017 he became an avid Chiefs fan. He loved animals, going for walks, being outside, “puttering” in his yard in Huntington, and gardening. He was a quiet and loving man who enjoyed having his family around him. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He had a strong stubborn streak and Doris points out that he could be grumpy and grouchy! He was well loved both at Westbrook in Kearney (as a former resident) and at the nursing home.
Due to the Covid virus, there will be a small family service at the nursing home, with a Celebration of Life planned for a later date.
Arrangements in care of Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Kearney.
