Jackie Allen SmithJackie Allen Smith, 76, Prathersville, Missouri, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2021 at Liberty Hospital.

Jackie was born July 16, 1944 on a farm near Prathersville, Missouri.  He was a member of Mosby Baptist Church.  Jackie attended Excelsior Springs High School and then went on to study survey and engineering, the field in which he spent his entire career.  He first worked with Evans’ Survey, Liberty, Missouri, then while with Anderson Survey Company in Kansas City, Missouri he was the Project Manager for the Orient Express at Worlds of Fun. He transferred to projects in Wheatland, Wyoming and concluded his career near Chicago, Illinois, aligning atoms with Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory.  Upon his retirement he moved back to the peace and quiet of his childhood home in Prathersville.

Jackie is survived by his daughter, Lori Denise Smith, Liberty, Missouri; his son, Daniel Zachery Axe-Smith, Harbin, China; and stepdaughter, Christina Hunter, Aurora, Illinois.  Surviving grandsons are Rodney Allen Pyle, Liberty, Missouri, Randel Allen Pyle, Liberty, Missouri, and Maxwell Cui, Harbin China; great grandchildren, Brieanna McKenzie Elizabeth Green, Elaina Nikole Pyle and Joseph Daniel Rawlins, all of Liberty, Missouri. Jackie’s surviving siblings are Charles Richard Smith of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and wife, Mildred Lucille Smith, and Helen Carole Rogers and husband, Charles Elwin Rogers, his best friend and caregiver of Liberty, Missouri.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Jackie was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Jackson and Louisa Ruth Smith of Prathersville, Missouri; and a brother, Donald Gene Smith of Kansas City, Missouri.

At Jackie’s request there will be no formal services.  He was an organ donor of eyes, organs and tissue upon his passing.

Arrangements are in care of Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs.
