Danny Lee Russell

Danny Lee RussellDanny Lee Russell passed away on August 11, 2021. He was born on August 5, 1946 to Howard and Wanda (Pierson) Russell in Excelsior Springs. Danny worked for Gilmour Manufacturing Company, formerly Avsco, for 39 years, retiring in 2008. He enjoyed gardening, family time, and going to the lake.

Danny served in the U.S. Army as a SP4 and served one year in Vietnam as a Combat Engineer earning many medals including Vietnam Service Medal with 5 Bronze Service Stars.

Danny married Linda Barbee on October 2, 1970, who resides at their home in Excelsior Springs. He is also survived by his daughters, Shelley Simmons and son-in law, Jeremy of Excelsior Springs, and Missy Taber of Lawson; and grandchildren, Quinton and Drake Simmons and Olivia and Lindsay Taber; sisters, Linda Farrell (Mike) and Penny Connors (Dana), brother, Duane Russell, and brother-in-law, John Ferguson, all of Iowa; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and pets, Jackson, Allie, and Felix.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Candie, Bruce, Vickie and Steve.

No services at this time.

Arrangements are in care of Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs.

Our Sincere Condolences

My sympathy to all of your family. I am so sadden from this. I’ve been praying and tried to keep up on Facebook information. you both were great neighbors for 32 years. Our kids played together and went to school together. I am glad that Danny is walking the street of Gold. No more suffering. Linda I am keeping you in my prayers to help you through this. Linda and family,
We are all deeply saddened by the untimely passing of our friend Danny.  He was a breath of fresh air each and every time he came to Excelsior Springs Community Center.  Danny’s memory will live on with the many differences he made.  It is our wish for comfort for Danny’s family and friends.
