Terry Lee McKown, 73, of Excelsior Springs, MO, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at home after a long battle from Alzheimer’s disease.
Terry was born September 28, 1948 in Excelsior Springs, MO. He was a lifelong resident of Excelsior Springs. Terry was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam war, volunteering in March of 1969. After serving his term overseas and then in Texas, he returned home to Excelsior Springs. He worked for the KCS Railroad for many years and then ATK Army Ammunition, retiring in 2012. He loved fishing and hunting and piddling in his shop working on vehicles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Junior and Lucille McKown; his siblings, Jimmy McKown, Shirley Davis, Mary McKown, his twin Gary McKown and recently Bill McKown; also, his grandson, Ethan James McKown.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joyce McKown; his sister, Caroline McGonigle; and his children, Shelly Reyes (Noel), Nathaniel McKown and Darren McKown (Tina); his grandchildren, Kaeleb Reyes, Keanu Reyes, Bianca Reyes, Gabrielle McKown, Andrew McKown, Aubrey McKown, Annie McKown and Henley McKown.
At Terry’s request there will be graveside service on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
