Mr. Paul F. Hollingsworth of Excelsior Springs, MO, passed away on May 18, 2022 at St Luke’s Hospital from heart failure.
Paul was born on January 15, 1963 in Waynesboro, PA, to James and Dorothea Nelson. He graduated from Augsburg High School in Germany. He was in the Marine Corps for 10 years. He served in Desert Storm as a Sniper. He worked as a Manager for a plumbing company. He was medically retired in 2008 due to his heart.
There was nothing that Paul could not fix or build. He spent a lot of time with his grandsons, showing them how to build and take items apart. He loved them dearly. His daughter, Brandi Sutton, was his pride and joy. He was so proud of her. He helped raise his niece, Samirha Ayala, who was very special to him. His little smudge. Paul had a very special bond with his parents, Doris and James Nelson, he loved them dearly.
He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He never met a stranger. Paul loved to collect guns and also worked with leather and made writing pens. His hands were never idle. Paul will be missed greatly by all of us. He was loved so much by each of us.
Paul was the love of his wife Lori’s life and she will love and miss him for the rest of her life and beyond.
Paul was preceded in death by his son, Curtis W. Shrewsbury, as well as his in-laws, WM and Beverly Shrewsbury.
Paul is survived by his wife, Lori J. Hollingsworth; his daughter, Brandi and Tim Sutton; his son, Michael Hollingsworth; his parents, Dorothea and James Nelson; his grandsons, Kaleb Bjornlie, Caeleb Sutton, Wyatt Sutton and great grandson, Connor Sutton; his niece, Samihra and Frankie Ayala and their daughter, Melissa Ayala; as well as other nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Adriana Sabatini. He had many friends who will miss him greatly!

Uncle Paul met Aunt Lori when I was 18 and they got married. I had gone to live with my grandparents and Aunt Lori, Brandi & Curtis when I was seventeen. He traded his 81 Volkswagen scirocco for my 67 Volkswagen bug that was no longer driveable so I could get back and forth to work. He got me a job after I was let go at the bank at the same place I have been at for 28 years now Pronto General auto insurance. He was a great Uncle and will always be missed and loved.
