Robert “Bob” Grooms, 66, of Excelsior Springs, MO, entered the gates of heaven on May 18, 2022 from cancer at Kansas City Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born August 19, 1956 in Booneville, MO. He was truly a body in motion. He wore his physical body out water skiing, fishing, horseback riding, coaching, smoking ribs, cruising beautiful islands, and his love of ice cream. Bob loved his land, and never tired of planting new things. It was a reflection of being a good steward of a gift God had given him.
He loved his children and grandchildren, and was never silent about how proud he was of them. They were his world! His faithfulness to his family was one of Bob’s finest qualities. Whatever he chose to do he gave 100%; as evidenced by his marriage of 46 years. Bob’s last words the night before he arrived in heaven summed up his life accurately and humbly. He said, “I am so thankful. I am thankful God saved me, and for my life with you (his wife, Melanie). I am thankful for my family.” He said, “I don’t know why I’m crying. I am not sad; I am ready”. Bob knew the best was yet to come. Thank you, Jesus!
Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jane King; father, Robert Grooms; grandmother, Cora Goslin; and his favorite horse, Blaze.
He is survived by his wife, Melanie Grooms; children, Melissa Abele (Chuck), and Ben Grooms (Britney); his grandchildren, Emilee, Madison, Josiah, and Caleb; his mother, Norma Sparks; his siblings, Marolyn Medders, Tom Grooms, Dan Grooms, and Rick Castillo; and many other family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. May 24, 2022 at ES First, located at 1800 S. US 69 Hwy., Excelsior Springs, MO.
Arrangements in care of Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs.
