Richard “Dick” Leon Wilson

Richard Leon WilsonRichard “Dick” Leon Wilson, age 88, passed away December 12, 2022. He was born July 30, 1934, in McPherson, Kansas, to Harry and Vera Wilson (Stockham).

Dick was a graduate of Topeka, Kansas High School and attended Washburn University.  He served in the United States Navy. Dick was employed by Bendix/Allied-Signal in Kansas City, Missouri, until his retirement in 1985. Afterward, he enjoyed a second career with the Kansas City Royals. He loved the “job,” including occasionally rubbing shoulders with players.

In 1958, Dick married the love of his life, Gerri, and spent a wonderful 53 years together until her passing in 2011. Dick enjoyed their time together in sunny Fort Meyers, Florida, until medical issues required a move back to Raymore, Missouri.

He enjoyed Boy Scouting with his son, fishing, traveling, his Ham radio buddies, the Royals and Chiefs, and beer can collecting.

Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Gerri Deane Wilson (Bennett) in 2011, and his daughter, Dana Lynn Eubank in 2017.

Survivors include his son, Jeff Wilson and his wife, Nancy, of Lee’s Summit; granddaughter, Alicia Eubank; three great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Wilson and his wife, Iris, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sister, Shirley McGinnis and her husband, J.B., of Excelsior Spring; sister-in-law, Leigh Moore, of Excelsior Springs; and many nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to Raymore Senior Care and St. Croix Hospice for his loving care.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, December 16, 2022 with service following at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, with burial at Hillcrest Cemetery, Excelsior Springs, MO.
