Lynn Purdue

Lynn Purdue, 80, passed away peacefully with family at her side on May 13, 2023 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She previously lived in Lawson, Kidder and Liberty.

Lynn was born on March 12, 1943 in Rayville, to June and Georgia Branstetter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Joe Purdue, parents June and Georgia Branstetter and brother, John C. “Jack” Branstetter.

She was a graduate of Lawson High School and William Jewell College. She worked as a customer service representative for Hallmark Cards retiring with 30 years of service.

Lynn was known for her sweet smile, style and positive attitude toward life.

She enjoyed spending time with family, shopping, cleaning and landscape gardening. She always looked forward to coffee and conversation with her siblings. After retirement, she enjoyed life on the farm in Kidder with her husband, Darrell farming and breeding paint horses. She loved having her grandchildren visit on the farm where they enjoyed riding the horses, fishing, making cookies and helping with the chores.

She moved to Tulsa in 2017 to live with Jessica and Bella. Lynn was a member of First United Methodist Church in Kidder, MO and Tulsa, OK.

Survivors include son, Rodney Cates (Bonnie), Lawson; daughter, Jessica Cates Bolen (Brian Cook), Tulsa OK; sister, Gisele Mesh, Kansas City; sister-in-law, Joyce Ann Bice, Jefferson City, TN; step-son, Darrell Purdue (Jami), Kansas City; step-daughter, Christy (Tom) Clement, South Jordon, UT; eight grandchildren, Michael, Nathan and Jacob Cates, Bella Bolen, Zac and Sean Purdue, Evan and Elaina Clement; niece, Shelly Branstetter and nephew, Greg Weber and Landon Branstetter.

The family would like to thank the team at The Linden at Stonehaven Square for caring for her like family and creating joyful moments in her life. Secondly, we would like to thank Clarehouse for the care they provided in her final days.

Services will be held Thursday, May 18, 2023 at the United Christian and Presbyterian Church, Lawson. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial at Teegarden Cemetery, Rayville.

Lynn and I were raised in the same neighborhood in Ray County. I loved going to her home when we were growing up. She was always a very sweet and kind person. Many happy memories I have of Lynn.
