Carol Smedlund, 88, of Excelsior Springs, MO, passed away June 3, 2023 at Excelsior Springs after her battle with cancer.
Carol was born on March 27, 1935 in Almond, WI. She worked in the collection department of Russell Stover Candies and retired from Commerce Bank. She was a prior secretary at the Elk’s Lodge and had volunteered at the Excelsior Springs Chamber of Commerce. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Smedlund and daughter-in-law, Guyla Smedlund.
Survivors include children, Jon Smedlund, Bashor, KS, Jean (Ted) Pasieniuk, Orrick, MO, Jeffrey (Debi) Smedlund, Omaha, NE, Jay (Maureen) Smedlund, Plattsmouth, NE, and Jolene (Jim) Loftin, Excelsior Springs, MO; brother in-law, William (Betty) Smedlund, Kimberly, WI; nine grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at noon, Saturday, June 10, 2023 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 404 Regent Street, Excelsior Springs, MO. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, before funeral services. Interment of ashes in the church garden immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the St. Luke’s Church memorial garden.

Aunt Carol was loved by so many and will be missed. We do find comfort in knowing she is joining Uncle Jim and her “Fellner” siblings. She will have quite the welcome party! Heaven is lucky to get this fun angel.
