Sallie Mae Conner Allen

Sallie Mae Conner AllenSallie Mae Conner Allen, of Excelsior Springs, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Valley Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Sallie was born January 19, 1929 in Richmond, Missouri to Rolley Beecher Conner and Vallie Parks (McGinnis) Conner, the second youngest of seven children. She graduated from Richmond High School in 1947. She married Eugene “Gene” J. Allen on October 4, 1948 in Richmond, Missouri. Four children were born of this union, Denise, Kathleen, Neal and Barbara.

They resided in Richmond until 1967 when they moved four times and ended up in Hollister, Missouri where they made craft items for Mutton Hollow in Branson, MO. Sallie loved to read and watch sports especially the Royals and Chiefs. Most of all she loved her grandchildren. After her husband’s passing Sallie moved to Excelsior Springs and spent many hours socializing with friends, putting puzzles together and playing games. She joined the North New Garden Primitive Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gene; and son, Neal; her brothers, Donald, Rolley “R.J.”, Robert “Bobby”, and Luther Thomas “Tom”; her sisters, Vallie Stevinson and Frieda Ann Butler; and brother-in-law, Bari Allen.

She is survived by daughters, Denise (Martin) Siegel of Rayville, Kathleen (Keith) Coleman of Excelsior Springs and Barbara Neary of Rockaway Beach; and sister-in-law, Sherri (Allen) Smelcer Belland of Sandusky, OH; grandchildren, Matthew (Angela) Siegel, Jess (Jamie) Siegel, Merci Crawford, Aaron (Robin) Barrett, Curtis (Heather) Barrett, Justin Decker, Dustin (Jenna) Decker and Zachary Decker; step-grandsons, Brian and Jeffrey Coleman; and granddaughter of the heart, Heather Thompson; 24 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren; plus numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2023 at North New Garden Primitive Baptist Church, Highway O, Wood Heights, MO, with visitation from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to The North New Garden Primitive Church, 105 Highway O, Excelsior Springs, MO 64024 or Three Rivers Hospice, P. O. Box 1210, 731 N Main Street, Sikeston, MO 63801.

Sallie was such a sweet lady, she befriended my mother at Valley Manor many years ago, always welcoming, a great listener and shared so many personal experiences with us. I know she had lots of friends waiting for her on the other side!!

Sallie will be missed by many and our thoughts and prayers go out to her family. She was a fun loving kind hearted lady and she made our home a better place. Rest in Peace Sallie.
