Ramon Leon Rounkles, 82, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, passed away August 1, 2023, at home surrounded by his family.
Ramon was born June 27, 1941, to Casey and Emily (Brozek) Rounkles in Kansas City, Missouri. During his grade school years, he moved to Excelsior Springs, which became his home for the rest of his life.
He created a successful plastics factory in 1963 at the old ice plant, which is now the beer garden at Wabash BBQ. He later moved the plant to a downtown location in Excelsior and he ended up retiring in his mid-40s.
His hobbies were fishing and hunting and he participated in many fishing tournaments. He loved sports, especially if it involved his kids, grandkids, or great grandkids. He never missed their games, and if it was football, he never missed a practice, either. He was always the lone spectator sitting in the stands during practice.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and we were so blessed to have him.
Ramon was preceded in death by his parents, Casey and Emily Rounkles; brothers, Rodney Rounkles and John Dinsmoor; sisters, Patricia Bisbee and Emilie Stevens; granddaughter, Andrea Lewis; great granddaughter, Lilly Lewis; and nephew, Kimball Bisbee.
He is survived by a very large family, wife, Sandra, of 61 years; daughters, Melissa (Jason) and Michele (Bret); son, Michael (Cassie); grandchildren, Amber (Reggie), Preston (Devyn), Brett (Katie), Austin (Abbey), Paige (Phil), Ella, and Seth; great grandchildren, Peyton, Wesley, Bella, Opal, Oliver, Rudy, Lucy, Emma, Theodore, Waylon, and Barrett; brother-in-law, Larry Bisbee; sisters-in-law, Judy Rounkles and Cheryl Dinsmoor; and many nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, August 8, 2023, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. with a service to follow at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs, Missouri.

Dearest Rounkles family,
I was saddened to hear of Raymond’s passing. I have a so many great memories of Raymond and all of the Rounkles family. I frequently remember and share with others the great stories from so long ago. Memories of my younger days in Excelsior Springs. I remember Raymond’s infectious laughter, his smile, his love of fishing, hunting, but mostly his deep love for his family. I had the privilege of working for Raymond also at the end of his career. My career also brought me back to plastics manufacturing. Funny how life comes full circle. I do not have the words to take away your pain, but I just wanted you to know I will remember everyone in my prayers, and may you find the peace that passes all understanding in Christs love at this moment in time.
Kevin
There are people that come along in our lives that aren’t family but sure as heck make you feel like they are, Ramon was one of those people in my life. He was never without a smile and a word of encouragement, he was a heck of a guy to have in your corner. I have so many great memories thanks to him and Sandy both. To Sandy, Missy, Michele, Mike, and your entire families our deepest sympathies to you all.
