Janice E. Shanks of Kearney, MO, passed away September 21, 2023 at Hospice House at North Kansas City Hospital. Mrs. Shanks was born July 26, 1947 in Kansas City, KS.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Richard “Dick” Shanks; her parents, Amos McCoy and Dorothy Smart; her sister, Stephanie Boots; her brother, Clint Smart; and her great grandson, Gabriel Niepman.
Survivors include her daughter, Shannon Niepman (Eric), and grandson, Nathan of Versailles, MO; grandson, Joshua (Savannah) Niepman of Adrian MO; grandson, Sean Niepman of Texas; grandson, Ethan (Angela) Niepman of Butler, MO; and six great grandchildren; sister, W. Jean Smart of Kearney, MO; sister, Paula Donegan of Excelsior Springs, MO; brother, Rick (Debby) Smart of Platte City, MO; brother, Randy (Pam) Smart of Excelsior Springs, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kearney, MO.
