Marianne Bral Wendleton

Marianne Bral WendletonMarianne Bral Wendleton passed away Monday, October 2, 2023, after a long illness with family by her side. Marianne was born on December 15, 1931, in Atkinson, Illinois.

She was the daughter of Sophie and Theophil Bral. She had two brothers, John and Francis, who preceded her in death. Her father had a large farming operation in and around Tampico, Illinois. Marianne graduated from Tampico High School in 1949. She worked for a lady in Tampico who had heard about the healing waters in Excelsior Springs and thus accompanied her employer to Excelsior for treatment. She met Roy M. Wendleton and after dating for some time, they married in 1952.

Marianne attended nurses training at Excelsior Springs City Hospital and received her LPN license. In 1956, Marianne gave birth to a daughter, Deborah. Marianne worked at Excelsior Springs City Hospital, McCleary’s Clinic, and Liberty Hospital, until she retired in 1996.

She traveled extensively and did a lot of church activities and enjoyed her retirement years. Roy preceded her in death in 2012. Marianne mostly enjoyed participating in her grandson, Michael McRill’s activities, and was very proud of his academic success. Deborah and Michael will miss her and her kindness to all.

A memorial visitation will be held Friday, October 13, 2023, from 10 to 11:00 a.m. at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, with a service and graveside to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Marianne was a friend to all animals and ask that donations be made to the Excelsior Springs Animal
Shelter in her honor.

I am so glad I had the privilege of working with Marianne. She was such a nice person. I will always recall how she would call often all us “Kid”.
