Joyce Gail Stewart was born on June 5, 1947, in Kansas City, Kansas, and passed away on November 29, 2023. She was the daughter of Johnnie and Arlene Brown.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 57 years, Gary; sister, Carol Lovett; son, Matthew Stewart (Lesley); daughter, Sarah Murphy (Michael); five grandchildren, Taylor, Breanna, Hannah, Parker, and Teegan; and one great-grandchild, Cohen.
She worked at Trans World Airlines for 36 years as a Custodian of Records. After retiring in 2001, she worked for H & R Block as a receptionist during the tax season for 5 years.
Joyce’s devotion to her faith and belief in God guided her selfless love for her family and her passion for helping others. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, cross-stitching, jigsaw puzzles and laughing over a good cup of coffee.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., Thursday, December 7, 2023 at First United Methodist Church of Excelsior Springs, with service beginning at 11:30 a.m. A graveside service for immediate family will follow at the Excelsior Springs Masonic Cemetery.
