Our hearts broke on November 29, 2023, when our beloved mother and grandmother, Virginia Mae Looney, took her final Earthly breath. Virginia was born in Detroit, Michigan, on March 19, 1938, to Earl and Daisy (Armstrong) Wade. She was the seventh of ten children.
She retired from Valley Manor Nursing and Rehab in Excelsior Springs after being the head cook. She and her husband were owners of JJ’s Café, now known as Catrick’s Café, in Lawson for four years. She loved the Kansas City Royals, a good glass of wine, reading, watching General Hospital, and picnics with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest, of 35 years; oldest daughter, Terry; great grandson, Baby B; two brothers; and six sisters.
She is survived by her loving little dog, Greta; son, Jim Looney, of Lawson, Missouri; daughters, Tracey Gulley, of Kearney, Missouri, Sandi Stocks, of Lawson, Missouri, and Deidra Jesse (Sam), of Lawson, Missouri; two grandsons; six granddaughters; eight great grandsons; eight great granddaughters; her baby sister, Nettle Watts, of Idaho; two brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a private graveside service on December 15, 2023.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Aspire Senior Living in Excelsior Springs and Phoenix Home Health and Hospice for their loving and excellent care in her final hours.
Arrangements in care of Bross & Spidle Funeral Home Lawson Chapel.
