Born on July 3, 1952, to proud parents, Donald and Roberta (Hook) Haley, Janet McNeil’s journey was marked by love, compassion, and a commitment to family. She graduated from Kearney High School in 1970 as valedictorian and attended Central Missouri State, carrying with her the values that would shape a life filled with warmth and kindness.
Janet’s early years were enriched by the love of her family, and she shared a special bond with her father, Donald Haley. Tragically, she was preceded in death by her beloved father and her dear brother, David.
In 1974, Janet embarked on a beautiful chapter of her life as she married Michael McNeil. Their union was blessed with love, laughter, and two wonderful daughters, Stacy and Carrie. Janet’s devotion to her family was unwavering, and her role as a loving wife and mother defined the core of her being.
Throughout her life, Janet’s compassionate spirit extended beyond her immediate family. She touched the lives of many through her involvement in her community and her dedicated support of charitable causes, notably her annual contributions to the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign during Christmas, one of her favorite times of the year.
As we bid farewell to Janet Lee McNeil, who peacefully passed away in her sleep on December 8, 2023, may we hold dear the memories of a woman who brought light and love to all who knew her.
She is survived by her mother, Roberta; brother, Terry; loving husband, Michael McNeil; daughters, Stacy (Mario) and Carrie (Taj); and grandchildren, Maliq, Zoie, Aidan, and Owen, who carry forward her legacy of kindness and generosity.
In the quiet moments and shared stories, may Janet’s spirit continue to inspire and uplift those who were touched by her grace. May she rest in eternal peace.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 14, 2023, with funeral service to
follow at Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Kearney, Missouri. Graveside will follow at Fairview
Cemetery in Kearney, Missouri.

Janet was always the epitome of friendliness and kindness to all. What a great smile she had that shined with happiness. Mike and Janet’s 2 daughters were blessings for them and also for our church family. As teens in Ridgely Christian church they were favorites. Your family is remembered with fondness and a love beyond all knowing. Bless your family and we will keep you in our prayers. Call or come by-we would love to catch up.

Sorry to hear about Janet. Just wanted the family to know your cousins in Oklahoma are thinking bout you.
