Scott DeWayne St. John, 66, Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023, after a prolonged illness. He was born in Excelsior Springs on July 24, 1957, to the late James and Janice Marilyn (McKown) St. John. He married his wife, Debbie, in 1985.
Scott was a 1975 graduate of Excelsior Springs High School and lived in Excelsior Springs all his life. He loved aviation. After high school, he studied aircraft maintenance. He was a second lieutenant in the Excelsior Springs Civil Air Patrol Squadron, U.S. Air Force Auxiliary. Scott also enjoyed learning about NASA and space travel, and he liked watching Star Wars and Star Trek.
Scott worked at several industrial jobs in his career, as well as at Radio Shack. He was a member of Salem Christian Union Church in Excelsior Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Scott is survived by his wife of 38 years, Debbie, of the home; son Jeffrey (and fiancé Daniele Kennon) of Excelsior Springs, son Jason (and fiancé Amber Beverlin) of Excelsior Springs; grandson Atticus St. John, of Richmond, Mo.; brother James Reginald “Reggie” St. John (and wife Kathleen St. John) of Excelsior Springs; and numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15, 2023, followed by funeral service at 11 a.m. at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, Mo.
