Elizabeth Jean (Baker) O’Dell

Elizabeth Jean O'DellElizabeth Jean (Baker) O’Dell, 90, passed away December 14, 2023 after a long illness. She was born in Clinton County, Missouri, and graduated from Plattsburg High School. Jean met her husband, Marion Ray O’Dell, through a mutual friend and the rest is history. Two children were born of
that union, Jean Ann and Jerry (and Danelle) followed by nine grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren, with yet another on the way.

Jean never knew a stranger. She brought people home with her for holidays and volunteered at nursing homes and church. She often said that our relationships with God
and other people were most important. Her family was very important to her and it was said that the air at her house was “different” because it was full of love and acceptance. She will be terribly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Beulah and Willie Baker; both brothers, Aldon and W.A.; and two sisters, Rachel and Martha. She is survived by her sister, Alice.

Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Barbee Memorial Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at the church.

The family has asked, in lieu of flowers, for donations to the Excelsior Springs Museum or Barbee Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Arrangements in care of Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs.

Sending my love and deepest sympathy to you and your family. I have wonderful memories of the O’dells welcoming me in their home when I was a child. Always loved her noodles and her pineapple slushes. She had a heart of gold!
