Margaret Ann Taylor Lackey

It is with joy that we celebrate the life of Margaret Ann Taylor-Lackey, 82 years old. She was born in Gassville, Arkansas to Roy Cleo Taylor and Lola Althea Albin-Day-Taylor on January 11, 1941.

At 17 years old, Margaret married Coleman Lynn Lackey on July 5, 1958. They soon welcomed a daughter Sherri Ann Lackey on February 22, 1959, and a son, Rocky Lynn Lackey on January 6, 1960. Most of her life was spent in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, as a homemaker and a jewelry clerk at Wal-Mart.

Margaret Ann loved watching old westerns like Audie Murphy and Roy Rogers movies and reading about movie stars. Margaret loved her home, dogs, jewelry, shopping, bright shiny objects, and most of all dancing and spending time with her fiancé Jerry Pate. Jerry was a fierce advocate for our mom and she loved him.

Margaret Ann’s family include sister, Cheryl Kay Robinson (Stan deceased); a brother, Gary Lee Taylor (Roxy), Mike Joe Taylor (deceased), and Isaac “Ike” Lane Taylor (Darlene); uncle, Earl Ray Taylor; aunt, Bobbie Taylor-Pickett; grandchildren by Sherri and Brad Ward are Jordan Micah Ward (Emily), Isaac Nathanael Ward, Daniel Cole Ward (Megan), and Macaela Grace Ward, and great-grandchildren, Evelyn Claire Ward and Coleman Michael Ward; grandchildren by Rocky Lackey are Mandy Renee Yeates are Stephanie Ann Lackey (deceased), Justin Lynn Lackey, and Sean Ryan Lackey, great grandchildren Hailee Renee Yeates, Alyx Marie Yeates-Landeros, Chase Logan Lackey, Aubrey Kendall Yeates, Lucy Jane Yeates, Josie Hadyn Yeates, and great-great grandchildren Max Jacob Lackey, Grayson James Lackey, Mia Jasmine Lackey, and Christian Ryan Lackey, and finally, a great-great-great granddaughter, Nora Jayne Landeros.

Margaret passed away at Liberty Hospital of pneumonia and a pulmonary embolism on October 6, 2023 and will be buried with her grandmother at Oakwood Cemetery in Baldwin City, Kansas.
