Anita Gillispie died on July 30, 2024 at Valley Manor nursing home in Excelsior Springs, MO, after a lengthy illness.
Anita was born on March 17, 1939 in Memphis, TN.
Anita was the eldest of five children born to William O. Sullivan and Rosalee Catlett Sullivan.
She grew up on cotton farms in southeast Missouri. She didn’t like picking cotton but like everything else she did in life she was going to do the job right. Her dad always said “Anita ginned her cotton before she put it in her sack.”
Anita married Chester A. Gillispie on December 17, 1969.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Gillispie in 1978; mother, Rosalee Catlett Sullivan in 1980; father, William O. Sullivan in 1992; sister, Loretta Filer in 2005; and brother, Carl Sullivan in 2010.
Anita is survived by two brothers, Travis Sullivan, Excelsior Springs, MO, and Wilford Sullivan, Kansas City, MO; brother-in-law, Bill Filer, Harrisonville, MO; two sisters-in-law, Debbie Sullivan, Excelsior Springs, MO, and Doris Sullivan, Kansas City, MO; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
