Jacqueline “Jackie” Louise (Carr) Collins

Jackie Collins

Jacqueline “Jackie” Louise (Carr) Collins passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 28, 2024, at Oak Ridge, in Richmond, MO.

Jackie was born in Hamilton, MO, on September 16, 1933, the first born of three children to Raymond and Viola (Bradley) Carr.  The family moved to Excelsior Springs in the late 1930s and ran the water treatment plant for over 30 years. Growing up in Excelsior Springs, Jackie was well-liked and very social with her friends.

Jackie graduated from Excelsior Springs High School in 1951 and was involved in yearbook, newspaper, pep squad, and various other clubs. She was very active with her class throughout her life.

Jackie married Donald Collins on October 21, 1952, in Eureka Springs, AR.  Through that union three children were born; Becky, Randy, and Bruce.  Don joined the Air Force and the family was stationed at various places in the southwest United States. After Don left the military, they settled back in Excelsior Springs to raise their children.  Don and Jackie loved being surrounded by their children and grandchildren.  They hosted all holidays, birthdays, and weekly family dinners.  Nothing made them happier than hearing their grandchildren giggle and they very rarely told them no about anything.

Jackie was a loving homemaker who decided to enter the workforce as a private caregiver while earning her CNA license. She finished her career retiring from Liberty Hospital after 17 years as a CNA.

Jackie, and her longtime partner, Roy Marlin, continued to host family dinners and loved to be social, by visiting family, former classmates, and friends. Jackie was reserved with her words but was quick with her beautiful smile. She was always there with a listening ear and a hot cup of coffee. Her theory was that could cure anything. Jackie will always be remembered for her gentle nature and the love she radiated. She had a servant’s heart and spent her life patiently caring for others. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and compassion that will forever resonate in the hearts of her family and friends.

Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Collins; parents, Raymond and Viola (Bradley) Carr; brother, Lonnie “Bud” Carr; brother-in-law, Nile Brown; and great-grandson, Dallas Gantt.

Survivors include long-time partner, Roy Marlin of Excelsior Springs; sister, Gail (Carr) Brown of Lee’s Summit; sister-in-law, Kathy Carr of Kearney; children, Rebecca Collins of Liberty, Randall (Toni) Collins of Excelsior Springs, and Raymond “Bruce” (Paula) Collins of Excelsior Springs; grandchildren, Prema Railey of Liberty, Lindsay (Brett) Biere of Kearney, Cheyenne (Joe) Tavares of Kansas City, Randall “Scott” (Terah) Collins of Excelsior Springs, Kelsey (Josh) Buford of College Station, Texas, and Kara (Anthony) Alvarado of Leewood, KS; great-grandchildren, Kendal, Mason, and Collins Grace Tavares, Cooper, Beckett and Silas Collins, Emersyn Biere, Everly and Brooks Buford, Nellie and Romy Alvarado; her long-time partner Roy’s children, Rhonda (Mark) O’Dell of Kansas City, Jerry Wayne (Barb) Marlin of Lee’s Summit; grandchildren, Loren (Brad) Patton of Kansas City, Natalie (Jerry) Crocker of Kansas City, Kimberly (Jeff) Edwards of Columbia, Austin (Mikala) Marlin of Kansas City; great-grandchildren, Hayden and Gemma Patton, Adalynn Crocker, JJ Edwards, and Madison and Avery Marlin.

Visitation will be September 12, 2024 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs, MO. Graveside service immediately following.

The family requests any memorial contributions be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or Shirkey Hospice & Palliative Care, in lieu of flowers.

Our Sincere Condolences

I’ve known Jackie for years, even back when she was married to Donnie. Probably my very best memory of how sweet she was…… was when I spent 22 days in Liberty Hospital and she was my constant care. Jackie didn’t just do a job, she actually cared, and I could’ve not have had anyone any sweeter and more helpful than Jackie was, the world will miss her. So sorry for your loss.
