Agnes Marie (Jones) Mullikin, 89, Excelsior Springs, Mo. (Wood Heights), passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 19, 2024.
Agnes was born on September 18, 1935, in Glenolden, Pa., to Clarence and Mildred Jones. She graduated from Glen-Nor High in 1953 and went on to work for Bell Telephone in Philadelphia, Pa., before she met and married Donnie Mullikin on November 27, 1954. She was a devoted wife and mother who raised five children.
Agnes loved to cook and bake and enjoyed doing yard work and potting and planting flowers in her flower beds and she loved her Kansas City Chiefs, she was always so excited for game day. She loved having her children and grandchildren over for Sunday dinner over the years. She always had something delicious prepared and loved trying a new recipe as well. Easy Spaghetti was a family favorite. Birthdays and holidays were always special, especially Christmas, she always put on a big spread of baked goods and food growing up as kids for us. We always had a homemade birthday cake as well. Anyone that came into contact with her loved and adored her. She was the most kind, caring, and loving person and was such a giver. She loved her children and grandchildren, and she especially loved being a grandmother. She shared a very special bond with some. Words cannot express how deeply she will be missed. She was the matriarch, the glue, the rock and center of our family. We are so blessed to have had you for eighty-nine years. We are so thankful for her team of doctors that treated her throughout her cancer journey, and her heart and kidney.
I would like to give a special appreciation and thank you to Amanda and Olivia, her granddaughters who really stepped up to help get her to her chemo treatments and many doctors’ appointments as well as many other things her life required. If it were not for the both of you with your flexible schedules, I am not sure how we would have managed without you both. I know she was so grateful to have spent the time she did with you this last year. We as a family are forever grateful.
She is survived by her five children, Mike, Altus, Okla., Laura, Emporia, Kans., Sharon and husband Mike Griffin, Excelsior Springs, Matt and wife Debbie, Excelsior Springs, and Lenore, Kansas City, Mo.; five grandchildren, Stacey (Anthony), Jason (Beckie), Angela, Amanda (Sam), and Olivia; nine great grandchildren, Kyree, Mason, Kaleb, Mackenzie, Jayden, Brayden, Liliana, Maverick and Max.
