Norma J. Bears of Lawson, Missouri, passed peacefully into her eternal home on October 20, 2024 at the age of 93.
Norma was born to parents Foy and Iva Sorrell on June 7, 1931. She graduated from a small rural school in Myrtle, Missouri. Norma’s love of nature and the quirkiness of people was shared on paper and canvas for most of her life. She was an accomplished writer, who wrote hundreds of poems and stories. Her oil and watercolor paintings were something her family became very proud of. Her sewing and craft skills were like her personality, full of detail and perfection.
Norma married Bobbie R. Bears on December 26, 1951. Their marriage was full of traveling, gardening, card playing, and raising a family who honored the Lord. Norma and Bob began attending Lawson Assembly of God in 1977, where they worshiped with life-long friends.
Bobbie and Norma were blessed with four children: Steven, Linda, Jennifer “Ginger”, and Polly. They also cherished relationships with their extended family of brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Norma was married to Bobbie for 58 years and now joins him in their heavenly home.
Norma is also preceded in death by her parents, Foy and Iva Sorrell; her brothers, Glen and Kenneth Sorrell; and a sister, Gleana Sorrell Connor.
Her legacy is continued by her children, Steven Randall Bears (Debra), Linda Marie Phillips (Steve), Jennifer Ellen
“Ginger” Gettman (Randy), and Polly Ann Brewer (David). Nothing made Norma happier than get-togethers where she could watch and love on her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her great-great-grandchildren.
Services in Norma’s honor will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024 at Lawson Assembly of God, 527 W. 6th Street, Lawson, MO 64062. Following the visitation at 10:00 a.m., a funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. There will not be a graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations to Lawson Assembly of God’s Senior Adult Ministry are accepted.
Arrangements in care of Bross & Spidle Funeral Home Lawson Chapel.
