Laura Adame Trickey

Laura Trickey

Laura Adame Trickey, 78, of Kansas City, MO, joined her twin sister Sara Adame Reese in Heaven on Saturday, October 26, 2024. Laura was born on September 29, 1946 in Emporia, KS, to Sam and Cora Adame. Laura graduated from Lawrence High School in 1964 and went on to
study the Arts at Benedictine College. She taught Art at Saint Patrick’s School in Kansas City, MO; as well, to anyone who shared the passion.

Laura married in 1968 and started an amazing family in 1969 by having a son. A few years later, a decision was made to begin adopting and a daughter joined the family while her husband served in the Air Force. Once settling in Kansas City, MO, Laura devoted her time to family and
teaching Art at Saint Patrick’s. Soon, their hearts were captivated by an episode of Thursday’s Child and another decision was made to adopt a second daughter and their first adopted son. Laura and her husband went on to serve outside of their family by being involved in Marriage
Encounter and Engaged Encounter. Thursday’s Child sparked another calling that would soon increase the size of their family to seven by adopting three siblings, one girl and two boys. Their family was now complete and she was well on her journey of parenting a large family.

Laura instilled strong family values with the help of her parents, sister Rita and twin sister Sara and her three kids. Frequent trips occurred to Kansas City, Saint Louis and Lawrence that created fond memories and shared traditions with Laura and Sara’s kids. Laura was key in the inception and realization of the Adoptive Family Treatment Center. She also co-authored “Think About Adopting or Foster Parenting Special Needs Children” as a self-assessment tool for prospective adoptive or foster parents.

Laura is survived by her seven children, Brandon and Candise Trickey, Julie Trickey, Heather Trickey, Brian Trickey, Debra Trickey, Scott Trickey, Calvin Trickey; and her dear sister, Rita Adame. Laura is also survived by nine grandchildren, Dustin, Ryan and Sara, Nathan and Chantel, Greighson, Christina, Sami, Paisley, Roman, and Kaden; and seven great grandchildren, Pipher, Atreyu, Sylas, Clayton, Kayden, Skylar and Lily.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Cora Adame; niece, Robyn Garcia; and twin sister, Sara Adame Reese.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, November 1, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at Northside Christian Church, 5114 NW Old Pike Road, Kansas City, MO 64118. Private Inurnment will be at a later date in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Flowers may be received at church after 3 p.m.

Arrangements in care of Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs.
