James B. Smith, 90, of Lawson, MO, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Lawson Manor.
James was born on July 31, 1934 in Elmira, MO, to Rhodus and Gertie (Nelson) Smith. On March 22, 1962, he married Martha Richardson. They were married for 62 years and 7 months. Martha preceded him in death in February 2023.
James worked at MFA for numerous years. He cherished his family, he loved camping and family gatherings.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rhodus and Gertie Smith; sisters, Louise Smith and Annabelle Trumbo; brothers, Raymond, Oscar, Lyle, Bob and Dale Smith.
He is survived by his dog, Buddy; sons, Gary (Connie), Richard and Danny Smith; daughter, Terry ( Jamie) Johnson; grandchildren, Candi Jo Smith, Jennifer Barnes (late Steve Barnes), Curtis (Christy) Smith, Chris (Karla) Smith, Misty Smith (Corey), Jim-bo Smith, Olivia Smith, April Richardson and Beth Davis; siblings, Junior (Nella Jo) Smith; in-laws, Bill (Linda) Richardson, Cheryl ( Harlin) Lawson, Candy (Bruce) Palmer and Rick (Linda) Richardson; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Lawson Community Center.
