After battling Alzheimer’s disease, Terry Jean Norris, 74, of Lawson, MO, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2024 at Oak Ridge Assisted Living & Memory Care in Richmond, Missouri; both of her daughters by her side.
Terry was born April 1, 1950, in Elmo, MO, the daughter of Jesse “Gene” Eugene and Dora Juanita (Schrodt) Norris. Her beautiful life and spirit will be forever cherished in the lives of her two daughters, Starla (Brian) Yarbrough of Lawson, MO and Stacy (Matt) Nolker of Lawson, MO; four grandchildren, Emerson Yarbrough, Preston Yarbrough, Kerington Yarbrough and Trigg Nolker; siblings, Tom Norris, Tim (Judy) Norris, and Tammy Norris; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Terry was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Juanita Norris.
Terry graduated from West Nodaway RI High School, in Burlington Junction, MO in May 1968. She graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in 1972 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Education and in 1994 received her masters degree in Special Education.
Terry spent her professional career working in secondary education, retiring from Leavenworth USD 453. In retirement, Terry cherished her time with her grandchildren and family. She enjoyed being physically active, gardening, working around the house and helping at the Norris family fireworks stand. She was an active member of Lawson Baptist Church; participating in multiple Bible studies, kids ministries and women’s ministries. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. followed by a 10:00 a.m. service on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Lawson Baptist Church, Lawson, MO. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at Braddyville Cemetery, Braddyville, IA. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Lawson Baptist Church or Shirkey Hospice.
