Joe McNeil, 73, left us to be with the Lord December 2, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.
Joe was born in Tahlequah, OK, August 28, 1951 to Chick and Gladys McNeil. His family moved to Missouri in 1955 and were lifetime residents of Kearney, MO.
Joe graduated from Kearney High School in 1969 and worked as a Union Carpenter with his Dad building the KC Airport. In 1973 he went to work for Platte Clay Electric as a Heavy Equipment Operator until retiring in 2003. He was united in marriage to Marsha Johnston September 6, 1977.
Joe was an avid outdoorsman and family man with many talents. He loved tinkering with old cars, tractors, and his Harleys. Horses had always been an important part of his heritage and he carried on the family tradition. He bred and raised some of the best Quarter Horses in the county and dearly loved weekend camping trips and trail riding with his family and friends.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell E. “Chick” and Gladys McNeil; sister, Marilyn Jean Schonewetter; sister, Carolyn Miller; and sister-in-law, Janet McNeil.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha McNeil; three daughters, Amanda Jean McNeil, Elli Jo Adams, and Lacy Dale McNeil; three grandsons, Joseph Lee Adams, Brayden Paul Grant, and Brody Paul Grant; brothers, Mitchell (Judy) McNeil and Michael McNeil; brother-in-laws, James Johnston and Thomas (Janelle) Johnston; and, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Kearney, MO, December 20, 2024 with Visitation from 10 a.m. to 11a.m. and Services at 11 a.m.
