Dayle Colleen Fields was born on May 15, 1934, at the family home north of Craig, Mo. Her parents were Guy C. Jewett of Skidmore, Mo., and Josephine P. Backhaus of Rockport, Mo. Colleen grew up in the county around Craig with her other siblings, Oliver, Joan, Harold, twins Gene and Wayne, Shirley and Guy Laverne. Colleen attended country school until the family moved to Craig where she finished school and graduated from Craig High School in 1951. While in High School, she excelled as part of the volleyball team.
In 1953, Colleen married William Bradley from Watson, Mo., and they moved to St, Joseph, Mo. She worked for Noma Lights, Whitaker Cable and as a beautician. During these years Colleen was blessed with four children, Ricky, Reva, Renee, and Randy.
In 1967, Colleen married Joseph Fields from Kansas City and the family settled into the bigger city. She began her career at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company at that time. Colleen and Joe moved to Mineola, Texas in 1977, where she retired in 1991. Soon after they moved to Excelsior Springs, Mo. to live with her daughter, Reva and husband, Ken Copeland. Joe passed away in 2019.
Besides traveling, Colleen loved to crochet, watch her TV shows: Wheel of Fortune, Perry Mason, and Murder She Wrote. She played Solitaire on her tablet, and occasionally spent time with friends at a Casino.
In recent years, she had two special and new attractions, cheering enthusiastically for the Kansas City Chiefs, and treasuring time with her new friend and beloved dog Teddy. She loved getting those kisses, rubbing his belly and spoiling him with treats.
Colleen is survived by her children, Rick (Cindy) Bradley, Reva (Ken Copeland), Renee Bradley, and Randy (Laura) Bradley; brothers, Guy (Phyllis) Jewett and Wayne Jewett; sister-in-law, Kay Jewett; grandchildren, Angela (GR) Pace, Glenn O’Dell, Chad Bradley, Glenda (Kyle) Pasewalk, Tracy Bradley, Mandy (Brian) Hoover, James Randall Bradley (fiance Amanda Webber-Rookes), and Kimberly Sutcliffe; and several great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Colleen was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Oliver Jewett, Harold Jewett, and Gene Jewett; and sisters, Joan Hearn and Shirley Bailey.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home Lawson Chapel, 214 North Pennsylvania Ave., Lawson, Mo., with service to follow also at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lawson Cemetery.
