Adella Violet Buchmann, Kearney, MO, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 10, 2024 at the age of 100.
She was born to Ernest and Minnie Buchmann on May 13, 1924 in Jackson, Minnesota.
She grew up on a farm attending the public schools. She graduated from Jackson High School in 1941. She attended Iowa State Teachers College and taught in the Iowa and North Dakota public schools. She attended the Oregon College of Education to teach the deaf. She moved to Olathe where she taught at the Kansas School for the Deaf for 27 years, retiring in 1989. She told us that when she came to Olathe, Olathe had about 11, 000 people living there.
In her younger years she enjoyed traveling, taking in many of the states and parts of Canada. She also went with an adult group from Youth/Front on a mission trip to Moscow where she helped passing out bibles in the Russian language. She went to Athens, Greece with her niece and husband to visit her great niece and husband who were in the U.S. Service.
She was a member of Olathe First Assembly of God for many years, teaching Sunday school, D.V.B.S and was Sunday school superintendent for several years. In later years, she became a member of Abundant Life Assembly of God, faithfully attending as she was able.
She is preceded by her parents, two sisters, and a great nephew and great niece.
She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, December 14, 2024 with service following at Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, 208 S.
