Delores (Thompson) Bush, 85, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024 at Liberty Hospital, Liberty, Missouri.
Delores was born on August 17, 1939, in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, to Adina and Kenneth Thompson. She graduated from Excelsior Springs High School in 1957. Delores married her high school sweetheart, Ed “Scooter” Bush, on November 28, 1957.
Delores was a member of First United Methodist Church of Excelsior Springs. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. If her husband was coaching or her kids or grandkids were participating in activities, she was always in the stands supporting and cheering them on.
Delores was the principal’s secretary at the Excelsior Springs Middle School for 25 years. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling, doing craft shows, and spending time with her friends and family. She practiced and mastered her hobbies, including gardening, cooking, quilting, and rug hooking. She loved
decorating her house for holidays, with her favorite being Christmas. Delores enjoyed traveling with friends to Las Vegas, Nevada, and her favorite place to go with her husband was Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Adina Thompson; her stepmother, Catherine Thompson; and her sister, Phyllis O’Dell.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Ed Bush of the home; daughter, Gina Burgess of Prairie Village, Kansas; and son, Dr. Jon Bush (Ann) of Amarillo, Texas; grandchildren, Trent Johnson (Jessica), Kennedy Burgess, Jackson Bush (Catherine), Katherine Bush, Caroline Bush, and Claudia Bush; great grandchildren, Paxson and Camilla Johnson.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to caregivers Dayna Dallas, Stacey Peak, and Anita Templeton, and to the Liberty Hospital staff for their compassionate care.
Delores was a beacon of kindness, strength, and love. It was Delores’s wish for her loved ones to remember the good times and celebrate the love she had for each one of them, and because of that the family has chosen to have a Celebration of Life gathering on March 16, 2025 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Ventana Gourmet Grill, 117 W. Broadway, Excelsior Springs, MO 64024.
