Roy Wayne Marlin, 91, of Excelsior Springs, MO, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025. Born and raised in Excelsior Springs, Roy was a proud graduate of Excelsior Springs High School, where he played both football and basketball and remained an active alumni member throughout his life. He was also a skilled carpenter, and known for his precise craftsmanship and strong work ethic.
He was preceded in death by his longtime partner, Jackie Collins; grandparents, Len and Mary McRorey; parents, Clark and Delia (McRorey) Marlin; sister, Beverly “June” Bacon; stepbrother, Harvey Swearingen, Jr.; stepsister, Patty Havelrigg; and Jackie’s great-grandson, Dallas Gantt.
He is survived by his children, Jerry Wayne (Barbara) Marlin and Rhonda (Mark) O’Dell; grandchildren, Lauren (Brad) Patton, Kimberly (Jeff) Edwards, Natalie (Jerry) Crocker, and Austin (Mikala) Marlin; great-grandchildren, Hayden Patton, Madison Marlin, Adalynn Crocker, Gemma Patton, Avery Marlin, and JJ Edwards; Jackie’s children, Rebecca Collins, Randall (Toni) Collins, Raymond “Bruce” (Paula) Collins; Jackie’s grandchildren, Prema Railey, Lindsay (Brett) Biere, Cheyenne (Joe) Tavares, Randall “Scott” (Terah) Collins, Kelsey (Josh) Buford, and Kara (Anthony) Alvardo; and Jackie’s great-grandchildren Kendal, Mason, and Collins Grace Tavares, Cooper, Beckett, and Silas Collins, Emersyn Biere, Everly and Brooks Buford, Nelli and Romy Alvarado.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 25, 2025 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, MO. A private graveside service will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation in Roy’s name.
