Ruth A. Snoke
Surrounded by her family, Ruth A. Snoke died on August 20, 2015.
Ruth was born on May 3, 1923 in Kansas City, Mo. Her parents were Ethel (Meisenhelter) Maguire and Edward Maguire. She lived with her parents in Decatur, Ill. Ruth was married to Harlow Snoke on June 21, 1941. They moved to Missouri in 1970. Ruth worked part-time at Penrod’s Greenhouse for many years. She also worked during elections for the Clay County Election Board. The main focus of Ruth’s life was being a wife and mother. She loved her husband and her children.
Ruth was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Kearney. She was a member of Merri Martha’s at church. She belonged to a water aerobics class at William Jewell College for more than 30 years. She also belonged to a local Red Hat Society. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, and quilting. Until recently, she knitted red scarves for cardiac patients at Liberty Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her beloved spouse of 68 years, Harlow Snoke in 2011.
Ruth had three children, Adele Manks, Debie Snoke-Adams (Rick Adams) and Ed Snoke (Debby Snoke); three grandchildren, Brandon Manks, Alaina Vollmer (Brad Vollmer) and Lauren Snoke; and three great grandchildren.
A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at First United Methodist Church, Kearney, Mo. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to the Kearney Lions Club, P.O. Box 655, Kearney, MO 64060.
The family wishes to thank the staff of McCrite Plaza for their loving care of our Mom.
