Mark “Dekaan” Newberg, 64, Richmond, Mo., passed away November 9, 2018.
Mark was born November 9, 1954 in Duluth, Minn., the son of Floyd R. and Arlene June Gustafson Newberg. He enoyed playing the bass and singing for the kids. Writing poems and songs, listening to music. He liked gardening. He could fix just about anything. Problems with plumbing, call Papa. Problems with electrical, call PaPa. You need a wall built, call Deke. He was very Witty and Wise.
He was preceded in death by his mom, Arlene Newberg, and his dad, Floyd Newberg; wife, Patricia; and grandson, Justin Jeffrey Pensick.
He is survived by his children, Rexene Renee and husband, Donald Brown, Jodi and husband, Jamey Collins, Geri and husband, Jimmy Pensick; 14 grandchildren, Sabrina, Donny, Miah, Nick, Jesse, Joey, Jeremy, Jamie, Heather, Christopher, and Michael; 20 great grandchildren, Kylee, Katie, Khloe, Courtney, Audrey, Baby Donny, Mason, Mykal, Paetyn, Maggie, Daxton, BO, Junior, Rylee, Presley, Lucas, Ryker, Mallory, Austin and Asher; sisters, Kris Newberg, Terri Newberg and Kay McMains; and a large extended family.
Memorial visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m., Thursday, November 15, 2018, with service immediately following at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the SIDS Foundation, American SIDS Institute, 528 Raven Way, Naples, FL 34110.

I am so sorry for your loss … I worked with Deek at the Casino (Flamingo and Isle of Capri). He was a one of a kind. Always kind and when you saw him in the pit you knew everything was good … No one can ever replace him … God Bless and RIP Deek.
