Iona Maxine Gutscher-Weise (98 years young) of Mountain View, Mo., and West Plains, Mo., passed away August 27, 2020 at her home in Lee’s Summit, Mo. Iona was born October 16, 1921 to Alvin Emerson Gutscher and Nellie Webb-Gutscher in Maywood, Neb.
Iona married Boyd C. Weise on October 8, 1977.
Iona was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd; mother, Nellie; father, Emerson; and her nine siblings, Irene, Earl, Bill, Bobbie, Gene, Harold, Jimmie, Chris and Zola.
Iona graduated from Mountain View High School in 1939. She went to work at the Padget Hardware and then the West Plains Wholesale Hardware Company until she retired and then worked at the West Plains Municipal Airport part time. After her health started to deteriorate Iona moved to Lee’s Summit, Mo., to live with her niece, Donna and Steve Underwood.
She is survived by several sister-in-laws and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and several great-great nieces and nephews. Iona will be missed by her many friends and relatives.
Due to the Covid-19 restrictions there will be no funeral or celebration of life services.
