Donald Wayne Spurgeon, 72, Lawson, MO, passed away May 13, 2023, at his home.
Donnie was born June 18, 1950, in Maryville, MO, to Willis George and Lois Maxine (Webb) Spurgeon. He was raised and lived a substantial part of his life in Lathrop, MO, before moving to Lawson. He was an Air Force veteran. Donnie worked more than 40 years at Hallmark Cards before his retirement.
He is preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Max Lee Murdock; and two brothers, Stanley Thomas Spurgeon and Steven Ray Spurgeon.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Lisa (Murdock) Spurgeon; three daughters, Cheli (Brent) McReynolds, Stephanie Spurgeon, and Catie (Aaron) Howlett from a previous marriage; three sons, Steven (Jennifer) DeFries, Matt (Jamie) DeFries, and Johnathon (Stephanie) DeFries; two brothers, Jim (Darlene) Spurgeon and Gene (Diane) Spurgeon; two sisters, Kay (Dewight) Parks and Patty (Larry) Parks; sister-in-laws, Courtney (Rusty) Gillespie, Heidi (Bryan) Bell, and Lila (Lanny) Wake; mother-in-law, Rochelle Murdock; 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and friends.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. followed by a service celebrating his life at 6 p.m., on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Lawson Bible Church, 809 West 6th St., Lawson, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Lawson Alumni Association, P.O. Box 31, Lawson, MO. 64062.
