Beverly Ann Kirk, also known as Bev, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2023, in Kansas City, Missouri, at the age of 80. She was born on October 28, 1942, in Horton, Kansas, to Glenn and Fern Martin. Bev was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Stanley Martin and Terry Martin.
Bev was an intelligent, selfless, kind, hardworking, and generous person who loved to laugh. She was a dedicated and hardworking employee who devoted her career to Hallmark’s corporate office in Kansas City, Missouri. Bev worked diligently in the Production Planning department until her retirement in 2005. Despite the challenges of being a single mother, Bev never let it hinder her work ethic, often holding multiple jobs to provide for her family. Her unwavering commitment to both her career and her family is a testament to her admirable character.
Bev graduated from North Kansas City High School and was so proud that both her boys, David and Steven Grider both graduated from her alma mater NKHS. Her faith in God was an important aspect of her life. She attended several Methodist churches in the Kansas City area throughout her life, Faubion and Northmoor United Methodist Church, to name a few.
Bev was an avid patron of the arts. She enjoyed attending music concerts and had the opportunity to see performances by many great artists, including Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash. She also had a deep appreciation for theater and loved attending plays. Bev took pride in maintaining her home and was particularly good at painting and landscaping. She had a great affection for all the holidays and enjoyed decorating her home inside and out. She also enjoyed watching movies and cherished special movie dates with her family.
Bev is survived by her son and partner, David Grider and Stacey DeBaun; her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Candra Grider; and her six grandchildren, who affectionately called her Grandma B, Elizabeth Grider, Ryan Grider, Brandon Grider, Blake Grider, Hayden Grider, and Alex Grider. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
