Elaine Kay (Dean) McIntire was born in Dover, Missouri, April 13, 1942. She passed away after a short bout with cancer, surrounded by family, February 7, 2023 at her home in Kearney, Missouri.
Elaine moved to Kearney when she was four years old. She attended Kearney Schools, graduating from Kearney High School in 1960. She then went on to get her Bachelor’s Degree from William Jewell College and teach in the Kearney School District for 30 years. Elaine was a lifetime member of Kearney First Baptist
Church. It was there she married the love of her life, Richard “Dick” McIntire in 1962. Together they had three children, Shawn, Darren and Andrea.
Elaine was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. There was nothing she loved more than her family, and she expressed that love daily. After retirement in 1999, she and Dick traveled to Europe, Great Britain, and all over the United States. She was famous within the family for buying the kids and grandkids t-shirts from everywhere she visited. Elaine was also artistic, and learned to paint, completing many beautiful still-life and scenery paintings. She loved flower-gardening, and took great joy in planting and raising them each spring.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents O.J. and Nina (Morrison) Dean.
She leaves behind her beloved husband, Dick; children, Shawn (Fred) Wolpert, Darren (Cathy) McIntire, and Andrea (Chris) Byers. She also leaves nine grandchildren, Hillari, Colin, Courtney, Bailey, Maiya, Trenton, Sydney, Sammi, and Katie; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Donna Rice and Norma Dagley; and many nieces and nephews. We all love you so much Momma, Granny and Aunt Kay!
Services are planned for Monday February 12, 2024 at Kearney First Baptist Church with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. with funeral and graveside service to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to National MS Society, American Diabetes Association, or A Turning Point.
Our Sincere Condolences
So sorry to hear of Aunt Kay’s passing! I’m praying for you, Uncle Dick, and the rest of the family.
Tristan McIntire
Elaine was very good teacher. Patience was her strength. As her co worker Elaine was supportive of me and Kearney schools. I was also lucky to teach Hillari and Collin. Sorry for her family’s loss.
