Larry Kenneth Hampton, 81, of Excelsior Springs, MO, passed away on February 13, 2024, at Liberty Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Larry was born on December 26, 1942, in Norborne, Missouri, to Kenneth and Anna Louise Hampton. He attended Norborne High School, graduating in 1960. During his time at Norborne High, Larry excelled in track, basketball, and football, particularly enjoying his role as an all-star running back for the Pirates.
In 1959, Larry met the love of his life, Mary Elizabeth Callaway, while in high school, and they celebrated their 61st anniversary in November 2023. Together, Larry and Mary raised two children, Stephanie Lynn Alley and Larry Brenan Hampton. After graduating high school in 1960, Larry embarked on a 41-year career with Ford Motor Company.
Upon his retirement in 2002, Larry embraced the joys of lake life on weekends, indulged in his passion for hunting, traveled extensively with Mary, spent time in his workshop, and delighted in chasing after his grandchildren.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary; sisters, Sharon “Susie” Bruemmer and Deanne Hughes; his daughter, Stephanie Alley (Tim Alley); his son, Brenan Hampton (Kelley Hampton); his grandchildren, Lauren Fleischman (Alex Fleischman), Hannah Alley, Karson Hampton, Addison Hampton, and Cade Hampton; as well as his great-grandchildren, Kynlee, Lawson, and Kolby.
Services to honor Larry’s life will be held at Orrick Christian Church in Orrick, MO, on Monday, February 19, 2024. Visitation will take place prior to the funeral service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with the service following. A graveside service will be held at South Point Cemetery in Orrick, MO.
