Betty Marie Cureton, 90, of Lawson, Missouri, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025 at Aspire Care Center.
She was born April 28, 1934, to Henry Arthur and Sarah Tripp Hensley. Betty grew up in Mountain Home, Arkansas, where she attended school until the sixth grade, at which time she began working with her family in the field share cropping. Betty Marie moved to Missouri where she met Melvin David Cureton. They were married on October 21, 1953. She worked at Whitiker Cable and as a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and working in her yard. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, watching them at athletic events and taking them out to dinner at Ponderosa.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Gail Trout, and son, Melvin Lee (Peggy) Cureton, both of Lawson, Missouri; six grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and four great-great granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin D. Cureton; sisters, Audie Graves, Delie Ware, Maggie Hensley, and Irean; brothers, Jack, Jewel, Ted, Bobby, and Fred; daughter-in-law, Debbie Cureton; and son-in-law, Russ Trout.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, January 30, 2025 with memorial service following at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home Lawson Chapel, 214 N. Pennsylvania Ave, Lawson, Missouri, with burial at Old Union Cemetery, Lawson, Missouri.
