Margaret Ann “Peggy” Craven, 80, went to be with the Lord on March 4, 2025, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Peggy was born on January 11, 1945, in Mexico, Missouri, the daughter of James and Wilma (Sims) Berry. She graduated high school in Excelsior Springs and went on to attend William Jewel College and Northwest Missouri State University, where she graduated with a teaching degree. Peggy taught several different grade levels throughout her career, before she received her Master’s Degree in Administration. She finished out her career as principal of Elkorn Elementary School in Excelsior Springs.
Peggy married Robert Craven on August 12, 1966. They raised two children, Nicci Spencer and Scott Craven, and have a total of sixteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Peggy loved the Lord, and she enjoyed the bible studies she was involved in. She was a member of several community groups, including her sorority that she made many lifelong friends. Peggy loved to travel, and one of her favorite places was Estes Park, Colorado. She and Bob spent most summers traveling there with friends and family.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, James and Wilma Berry; her in-laws, Roy and Pauline Craven; and her sister, Pat Lammert.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert; her daughter, Nicci and son-in-law, Jim Spencer; her son, Scott and daughter-in-law, April Craven; her brother-in-law, Larry Lammert; and all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday, March 21, at Bross and Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. with the funeral following.
